Today's the 21st anniversary of SMRPG, so what better way to celebrate than with a ReMix off Super Mario RPG: Window to the Stars from one of the album's directors, DaMonz (Emery Monzerol):

"This is my second contribution to the album! I tried something more organic than usual. I spent lots of time humanizing the vibes, Wurly, and drums. And of course, I had to throw in some chips, I couldn't help it. :) I hope you'll enjoy!

P.S. Huge thanks to Emu for providing awesome feedback as I made this!"

Very cool; this sits somewhere in between jazz, fusion, and d'n'b, with shades of disco/funk at points. Excellent and SUPER chill vibes & EP parts just roll off them keys like butter, and the arrangement does a nice job of walking the line between energetic momentum and completely chillax motifs. Sir_NutS writes:

"Cool ambience, this remix starts pretty straightforwards, iterating slightly on the original, but it slowly evolves into a splendid syncopated and dissonant piece full of little intricacies and tons of detailing. It's a great song to drift away by.

...I have a soft spot for crazy inventive arrangements and this just poked it."

So Emery poked Mike... perhaps he'll poke YOU, too. In the soft spot. Ahem... I agree with NutS that this piece does a nice job with emerging complexity; things start relatively straightforward, but Emery dials in some more interesting harmonies as we progress. Liontamer adds:

"I didn't feel a lava vibe from this (though it's not like the source tune is that way either), so I'm interested in what prompted the title. This source first got put on my radar by Sine's excellent ReMix, "Seeking Heat," so I'm glad to hear it again with a fresh spin from Emery. I was enjoying this from the start, but when things picked up at 1:06, I fell in love with the sound palette here; really nice stuff. The EP used for the comping from 1:18-1:43 reminded me of ella guro's work."

Great ReMix from DaMonz which is deceptively complex while also being rather relaxing; this is some pretty chill lava, and I'm completely okay with that. Highly recommended!

This gives me the visual of going through the volcano area after the lava has cooled and you're left with a blue hued molten cave. Still a hint of red hot danger lurking around, but it's more chill, energetic and mysterious rather than heavy, aggressive and frantic. Another good ReMix from the album.

I like how this builds off the original song in interesting ways. Nice work!

This is unique and interesting! I really like how things get going around 1 minute (much like the rest of the reviewers), and it stays neat throughout. The last minute reminds me of some sort of quiet version of Crazy Motorcycle from FF VII; but more importantly, the remixer nails a unique and individual feel of half-chill/half-places-to-go kind of vibe, like a luxury car that's speeding down the highway but feels serene inside. Well played!

Honestly I can't unhear "It's Raining Somewhere Else" from the undertale soundtrack in this.
