Growing up in the eighties as I did and loving Real Genius as anyone should, I'm kinda surprised/disappointed we aren't doing more with lasers in 2017. I know they're all over the place and still performing a critical role, but I feel like three decades ago we were sold a future where they'd be more visible, replacing our conventional weapons, cooking our food, solving all of our problems, and being generally very radical, hip, and perhaps even outta sight. Ah well; Usa (Daniel Lippert) has this agreeable anthemic synth pop/rock arrangement of MMX2 & MMX6 for us, and that helps me heal:

"This remix was done for round 3 of the Sigma Fortress Remix Gauntlet 2015. I collaborated with Sir_NutS who provided the synth solo at the very end."

Rocky could training-montage to this; good energy, a somewhat-unorthodox but functional picked/muted electric bass, some nice pentatonic melodic motifs, synth power brass, shreddin' geets, and crisp drums all serve the arrangement well, and Mike's synth solo is value-added. I was the tiebreaker on this one, and Palpable's existing vote basically summarized my own take on some of the judges' criticisms:

"I liked the delicate intro, leading into the heavier rock stuff. The transition worked and I thought the production was solid and the partwriting good. I liked hearing fills and bass flourishes here and there. Sometimes there could have been another part added to fill in some blank spaces, but there was enough there for me to enjoy the groove. I also thought the transition between the sources was fine."

DarkeSword adds:

"I think this is a great arrangement and an nice combination of the sources. It doesn't follow an ABA kind of form but sometimes that's alright. The transitions aren't jarring at all. I like this. Let's goooo~ "

It's great to see Daniel back after almost seven years, and this is an energetic & fun mix to mark the return. Enjoy!

Yeah, this definitely has that sweet 80's feel, especially the synths. This was nicely done.
