Arranging the music of one song...
"Broken Spell, Healed Hearts"

Bluelighter (Guillaume Saumande) contributed this narrative symphonic/march arrangement of "Broken Spell, Healed Hearts" to our Final Fantasy IX: Worlds Apart album:
"The original piece was really interesting to work on. I really love the simplicity and the harmonic richness N. Uematsu managed to put in. In this orchestral mix, I wanted to combine different atmospheres: joyful and peaceful at the beginning, when characters Cid and Hilda can live fully their love. Darker in a 2nd part, where we can imagine some evil forces they have to fight together. But we have some reassuring notes in the conclusion. All's well that ends well. :D Here it is for the inspiration.
I've made adjustments of volume on quiet parts. I've also apply some minor retouches: solo strings louder on 1st quiet section and rhythm a little reviewed at outro.
Hoping you'll like this version. :)"
I dig what Guillaume's been doing, using marches of different form & character to explore different themes - it's a unique approach, and he's good at it, and we don't see a ton of submissions in this style, so it feels like a win-win. While this piece is a bit more lyrical/narrative and changes things up, there's still some march DNA in there. Palpable writes:
"Big step up in production from your Asterix mix, the last orchestral track I heard from you. There were some sections where the instrument swells were really well-executed and wonderfully moving. I also like the ideas here more than that submission. This is a stronger, more confident piece."
Clem adds:
"This is nice. It's tender hearted, and you've expanded the original tune skillfully. I enjoy the dissonance created with those trumpet stabs."
Pretty much; good stuff from Bluelighter that fits right in with his presiding aesthetic while also developing it into something more narrative!

Hmm...I don't remember this song on the soundtrack. Not a bad remix though!
