From newcomer Synesthesics (Sandro Kreher) comes a chill, ambient/EDM ReMix of Mirror's Edge, with enveloping pads, shimmering arpeggios, and glitchy/crushed drums that make good use of panning:
"Here is a game remix from my previous project, Mellow Sonic. Oh yay, my third remix of this theme... loved so much the Solar Fields version. :) Enjoy my new remix. :) BTW, yay, I wait for Mirror's Edge 2. \O/"
I suppose technically the titling of Mirror's Edge Catalyst could allow for ME2; I didn't hear as many folks talking about Catalyst as the original, following their respective releases. When it came out, the original Mirror's Edge was fresh, new, and had an attention-getting single that artists were invited to remix, which was a pretty cool bonus. This arrangement is transporting and makes especially good use of panning, not just on the aforementioned drums, but on the pads & accompanying synths as well. While there's not a ton of structural development and certain portions repeat themselves, the soundscape itself is rich, evolving, & inviting; Sir_NutS arranged our previous featured ReMix of the same theme, and sums the decision up well:
"This song lends itself easily to mellow stuff, and the artist takes advantage of the fact with this remix. Lush pads are the order of the day, with the constant arpeggio to keep the energy going. Even though there are many static elements here, the subtle changes in pads and usage of filtered synths that are just noticeable enough, and that fade in and out of the spotlight, do keep the energy from getting too constant."
Judges agreed that there could have been a little trimming to reduce repetition, a little more melodic variation/extapolation, or both, but also concurred that what's here is shiny, crisp, & achieves the things the genre tends to excel at achieving. Great stuff from Sandro, who debuts with an atmospheric take on a modern source that lends itself to the adaptation!

Immediately atmospheric and sticks with you for the entire music ride! I love listening to remixes like this!

Amazing! I wasn't aware of the Mirror's Edge representation in OCR. This is such a treat, and it does the soundtrack justice with a contemplative arrangement. Thank you for covering one of my favorite games!

Transporting is right. The noise crunches as percussion as well as the spacious audio give me Massive Attack vibes. This is something that you could leave on in the background while coding, or easily fit into a playlist of driving music for when you're cruising at high speed. While I'm not familiar with the OST (but have seen enough of the gameplay) and thus the source isn't necessarily familiar, this creates a shimmering crystalline ephemeral space that leaves me breathless. Beautiful.

Very chill, but still has nice momentum to it. This would make great BGM for work or study.

The piece does generally stay in one gear, but it ebbs and flows nicely within that gear. Cool lil' mood piece, and an interesting direction to take it in, going instrumental and more of a groove-based vibe. Loved when the beats dropped out to let the lush textures shine through as well.

I love the intro sfx, really widens the mix. The subtle textures and synths that come in really fill out this song. That kick and bass combo is killer. I love the energy flow of this piece - great work!
