Let's start the week with a particularly brilliant rap/hip-hop/jazz collab from Rukunetsu, Anton Corazza, & Yusef Kelliebrew, arranging "Mysterious Forest" from The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, eh? Ruku writes:

"Totally out of the blue Zelda collab between Anton Corazza, Yusef Kelliebrew, and PR. An enhanced mix of an instrumental made as a concept for the upcoming Zelda for the Wii U (before it had a proper name). Anton Corazza's on the track AND the soprano sax (talented dude, I tells ya), along with Yusef Kelliebrew on the drums (those that overlay the ethnic-sounding set). Here's hoping the wordplay combined with the somewhat atmospheric mix turns out to be a pleasant listen for you all. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do."

Anton's been going viral lately with some sweet NESophone/chipsax vids; you'll wanna check those out. The combined talents of these three gentlemen come together to form a whole even greater than the sum of its parts, making for a mix that combines ambient/atmospheric elements with freeform jazz with hip-hop verses & flow and then a sax solo... can't ask for much more, and I don't. Sir_NutS digS:

"Anyways, not much to add other than this is pretty damn slick. Rapping is on point, the arrangement is smooth and expansive without getting in the way of what should be front and center: the rapping and lyrics. I didn't find the production to be muddy, rather feels moody, kinda like a rainy day in a cozy cafeteria with a hot cup of mocha. I'm getting too abstract with this, but goes to show you got the mix to speak in ways other than just melodies and harmonies."

And now I want coffee. But I concur on the vibe, and I'm loving how this plays with time & space, pairing a steadier cadence of Anton's verses against a wider, looser expanse of atmosphere & artful, explorational drums. Your head might be noddin', and then maybe you'll stop for a bit because you're lost, but you'll be lost in a good way... on purpose. Love the feel, love the environment, and you *know* I love the collaboration; definitely the type of music that wouldn't have happened without diverse voices & talents coming together, and is all the better for it. Ace stuff, accessible but very distinct - highly recommended, glad to see it on the site, & kudos to PR, AC, & YF for something fresh & enduring. Sounds like a legend, indeed :)

I loved this game when I played it as a boy - it had a feel of mystery and exploration that not all Zelda games have. This song brings me back to some of those feelings of wonderment that the game brought about. Really impressive, from the lyrics, voice, and background music. It's mellow and has a nice vibe. I agree with the comment above that the percussion addition around 2:50 is jarring; the initial thought I had on my first listen-through was that everything else was so clean, and that part sounded a bit messy. On the second listen-through it doesn't stand out quite as much.

Either way, this one is saved for listening to in the future. Very nice work!

DJP wasn't kidding when he used the word BRILLIANT, because I don't think there is a large enough or bold enough font choice on that word to match what's in this remix.

This is straight up one of, if not the best, most professional sounding hip-hop lyrics I've heard on the site to date. Instrument wise everything shined, although I found the drum/cymbal break around the 2:50 mark a bit jarring. But the ridiculously tight lyrics managed to work so well in that section (as well the rest of the song) that it's an incredibly minor nitpick on my part.

You guys CRUSHED it!

Rukunetsu and DT! Who said we don't think up heat? (Who said that?)
It's always somethin' sharp spinnin' when we link up, B. HAA!

We drop bombs and break through walls.
They wanna be heroes overnight like 7 years takes too long, but
that's what it is though. Been known since them Nintendos:
to be a master, it's a quest. I can't quit, no.
For the kids, yo. (For real) Tryna make this land a better place
I know a better man'll see his surroundings reflect his changes. (Word up)
Courageous goin' in. Wisdom and power come.
Don't try forcin' it, do right. Evil towers'll crumble. (Drop it)

So what you up to? (What it do?)
Need to think what's good, 'cause what's bad gettin' cut through. (Uh)
Can't be untrue, lenses'll catch that.
Gotta give more than a piece of your heart to this game where rappers half-ass
just for some money. (Chill...) Y'all could get some of that cuttin' grass,
not your integrity in half. Nah, doubled that on my path out.
From bein' weak at first, but so was everyone in fact,
so if I stayed with it, I knew that'd put me above the pack. Now- (Let's go)
Pack a punch. Hold the weight with the gauntlet, then drop it.
In the right place and time, it's a puzzle I'm solvin'.
Put it together with my kin stoned. (Uh huh) We got this.
The high rule. New Jersey to the Bahamas. (Yaaaaoo)
That which was fly got 'em hoppin' when we rocked.
Feather quill wrote the word, hawk eye took the shot focused. (Focused)
Burnin' arrow: Fire on point fly.
Hit a bull's third eye, precise how we inspire minds.

Curin' ills. The flow water of life.
Only thing that could save me when I thought I had lost that fight.
No spirit out the bottle was enough to bring me back,
but I noticed the sun rose again when I played the wind through the axe.
No requiem for the spirit yet, I get it in from here to death.
Trained spirit for this track and all we engineer ahead of this time,
through the ages and whatever the weather.
Everybody'll have their story to tell, well I'm tryna make this epic.

Sounds like a legend. (Like a legend)
Baby, I'm feelin' high. Point my blade to the sky, word from the ground to the heavens.
I'll be out in a second. (In a second)
Baby, I'm feelin' high. Point my blade to the sky, word from the ground to the heavens. Check it (Hey, listen):

I know the magic that's music could save the land. (Say that)
Kick it hard like iron. It's deep when I take a stand
in that flow, they could try but no one could slay me, fam.
Worst enemy myself, I even got me sayin', "Man, that's too much to handle."
Still hold a lantern through the dark.
Too far to quit. Stopped carin' if the game is too hard...
I'mma win. (Uh) The sails caught wind. (OK)
Ready to drop a symphony when that baton lift. Wake up!
Out the dream, a new beginnin'.
Been spittin' on the low seven years, now know a dude, not kiddin', I'm in this!
Doin' it big, you can't diminish. Put a cap on that mission,
can't stop the mental master sword from spinnin'.
Lord my witness. I never really go alone.
Y'all gotta take this. My lyrical arsenal overflowin'.
Rukunetsu and DT, game golden.
Feelin' good, baby, save the potion!
I'm zonin'...

Just as I'm floatin' through the ocean...
flowin'.
You know what it is.
Yusef on them drums goin' in.
Project R, the dopest.
'Bout to grab a sax and start blowin'.

And that's the Gold Edition.
