E3 is on, the Smash hype train is in full effect, and we've got JUST the mix to energize/celebrate any SSB news the big N might be throwing our way, as DaMonz (Emery Monzerol) hits us with an adventurously syncopated & syncopatedly adventurous chip/synth d'n'b SSBM jam:
"So, this is a corrected version of my track on the Smash The Record album. I fine-tuned the mixing on the drums and the bass, customized some of the synths a bit more, cleaned up some of the melodies, made sure the bassline was more consistent in the ending section, fixed the ending (the one I had before was *horrible*, holy crap!)... You know, general cleanup which I didn't have time to do for the original version, which was made in just 3 sittings. :)
I had a lot of fun making this, and trying to capture the energy of the originals was a very interesting challenge. I hope you'll like it!"
Gario writes:
"Chips, light choral pads, great drum work and some slick arranging. Hey, I liked it on the album and I think it's only improved since then. The soundscape is light, and that gives your instruments a lot of room to create some agile lines (which you take full advantage of, especially during those solos)."
Spiralling solos are definitely a spotlight, and the overall deftness of the rhythms & melodic interplay is exciting, suspenseful stuff. Synths definitely have chip flavor to them, and some chip sequencing techniques (super-fast arpeggio vibrato effect) are thrown in to accenturate that; nice. DaMonz is particularly good at uptempo jams, where the notes fly by at high velocity and the energy is pervasive; this fits that description & pays invigorating homage to the source. Here's looking forward to future generations of SSB & its music!

It's always nice to hear a Super Smash Bros. remix. I love Final Destination remixes, especially like the section at 2:27. I get chills every time. :D

Actually, I've never had any problems with the original version from Smash the Record, but I'm fine with a couple of minor tweaks here and there ;) Well, this is a super fun track that simply oozes with the vibes of adventures and excitement! Both sources are already amazing, but Emery just brings them to whole new level. I was a bit skeptical at first, tbh, but this track grew on me really quickly. The solo at 1:30 is simply marvelous, and the following "Final Destination" cameo works incredibly well too - I love how DaMonz took the source and extracted all the awesomeness in this single small part. And right before diving into the second powerful chippy storm, which is no less great, we get a nice chill percussion-driven transition with some mellow backing stuff - another smart desicion in the whole structure of the track. Really appreciate this work, thats a lot! :)

Menu 1 and Final Destination are two SSB themes that never really get old for me. DaMonz has shown that he can improve upon a classic, and make it his own!
