We start the week off with a pleasant solo piano pop arrangement of FFX-2 from Kabukibear (Justin Lincoln):
"I decided to fire up the camera and take a video! I hope you enjoy it! No sheet music. Unfortunately, I never wrote it out. Maybe soon."
Larry Oji sums it up nicely:
"Already being familiar with the original, I knew there'd be a challenge in doing something different with a solo piano version of a piano-led original, but Justin rose to the occasion, adapting the original to 4/4 and giving it a faster tempo coupled with busy left-hand activity that really gave this momentum. The introductory sprinkles of FF10's "People of the North Pole" melody that were also used in between sections of the main source were a nice touch as well. The fact that it was played on a keyboard rather than a piano was apparent from the tone and some of the decays, but it's an extremely minor aside for what's a very fluid and interpretive spin on the source. Nice energy here, and great to have Justin posted once again! :-) He's getting more active with both original music and VGM arrangements on his YouTube channel, so be sure to check him out!"
The more delicate bits here are gorgeous, and the stronger pop chord work reminds me of Vanessa Carlton's "A Thousand Miles" - not specifically that song, really, more just the playing style. Cool that Justin had the arrangement in his head well enough to just play it through and capture that; performance is emotive and while the levels are a bit low, it sounds great. As Larry says, taking a piano-centric original and doing a solo piano take can be risky, but this arrangement is interpretive and transforms the source into something enjoyable, fun, & intuitive. Good stuff, would love to hear more!

This remix definitely brings me a feeling of going down some sort of memory lane. I suppose that's fitting because since one of the sources has "memories" in the name. As someone else pointed out, this piano playing is very emotive, which is very useful so that repeated parts don't get stale. This was extremely well done, bravo and kudos!

Just lovely all around. The tone and ideas. The runs in the beginning really caught my ear.

This is really, really good! This remix absolutely dances up, down, and through the original arrangement and somehow makes an entire remix of flourishes, adjustments, and improvisations into something that is simultaneously true to the source and so different all at the same time. SUPER impressed this was pulled off as a piano solo. Bonus points for the different tempo ending and the gorgeous trail... phew! What a performance!

Solo piano pieces are generally great. I played piano for about 8 years, so I can relate to how hard this is to play.

I absolutely love this Remix. I think this is an amazing work of art. What Justin has done here is very interesting and I would love to see more of his wonderful work here.
This piece brings back memories that will stay in my heart forever. When I first heard this I knew it was going to be a winner someday!!! Congratulations Justin!!!

I freaking love this remix! Final Fantasy X-2 holds a special place in my heart so any remix of the underappreciated gem of a soundtrack is very appreciated by me. I just love how it gives a upbeat spin to a melancholy song. Simply amazing work.
