Wow; newcomer Leisurebeam (Brian Sampson) debuts with a long-form, chill, & cinematic EDM journey, arranging "Sigma Stage 2" from the legendary Mega Man X OST. MMX just turned 25 years old, and damn if that soundtrack doesn't hold up like a fine wine; the artist writes:

"Hi, there! Thank you for considering the remix for inclusion on OC ReMix. I would love for my track to come up on Rainwave!"

While the bassline here does repeat itself a bit, the level of texture & layering work which evolves overhead is quite nice; a canopy of synthesized oscillations, drifting across the soundscape between the piano-led melodic riffs... and everything's rather purdy, in general. There's an EDM sub-skeleton that moves things along, but leaves plenty of room for the chill, expansive ambient & harmonic work. Larry Oji writes:

"Nice work, Brian! Very lush soundscape and textures throughout, and you did a wonderful job constantly keeping different elements of "Sigma Fortress 2" in play as you varied up the textures and instrumentation. It can be tough to have a near 7-minute track remain interesting and evolving throughout, but you had no trouble at all, and this was a smooth, crystalline listen. Definitely a good piece to put on at night. Welcome aboard, and congrats on joining the ranks of OCR and joining the Rainwave rotation! I hope you keep 'em coming!"

If the double-linking was too subtle, well, you should definitely check out Rainwave ;)

Cool debut from Brian, who uses an extended runtime to explore some solid sound design ideas that frame the source melody in a new light and make for transporting & engaging listening; certainly hope to hear more. Enjoy!

This ReMix really takes the time it's given and uses it well, with various build ups, slow downs and exploring the source completely. Pretty damn good arrangement, and I like how the sfx were integrated at certain points. Very nice debut mix here.

This remix is nice and mellow. I enjoy the low key nature of this remix, gave off a nice steady groove and vibe. This was an excellent debut remix, well done!

I'm in a very nice way reminded of the soundtrack to FTL! If I would criticize anything, the piano is a bit meandering for my taste, but it is so in a very genre-appropriate way. I'd personally prefer a more considered, melancholy, darker piano part. Enough about my tastes. I definitely enjoy the long-form travel through the soundscapes, which has both quieter details and larger components, winding up and down along the ride. Very nice.
