Arranging the music of one song...

We resume our Chronopolis selections with something different, as Lemonectric (Benjamin Hoffman) contributes a celebratory chiptune fanfare which breaks up the more organic aesthetic with something peppy, agile, & proudly synthetic:
"Did someone call for some chiptune? No? Well, I'll just leave this here... Having never played Chrono Cross, I was happy to claim a tune I recognized as originating from Chrono Trigger. It's definitely among the shorter tunes I've arranged, so I decided to extend the opening jingle into its own section and play the main theme over a different chord progression to add some variety."
It turns out someone DID call for some chiptune, though, as album director prophetik music writes:
"I desperately wanted a chiptune track on this project, since I loved the concept of a PS1 song where the music was chips instead of the 16-bit SPU that the PS1 had. Ben delivered with a great arrangement that takes a fairly short and repetitive theme to new heights with some excellent and tasteful programming."
In Brad's hour of chiptune desperation, Ben answered the call:) It's all in the details: little grace notes, bends, quick arp/trill fx, and excellent attention to EQ & panning so that each element really pops. It's a simple theme that's been elevated through the healing power of chiptune, and it's hard not to smile at the percolating, playful buoyancy of the whole thing. Fun, energetic, and joyful interpretation of source, time traveling the console audio spec back a decade & working some wonders in the process!

Ah, what great fun this was! It was a bop! A romp! A gas! A frolic! A whimsy! The chip goodness was so good that it made the actual chips I was eating quite jealous. One of the better chiptune remixes I've heard on this website.

Very interesting how you managed to stretch this short song out for almost 3 minutes. I would've preferred seeing at least one other song cleverly mixed somewhere in there to make it less repetitive but it's still pretty good as is.
