Arranging the music of one song...
"Candion"

It's STILL (just barely!) Xmas, and we've got a double-dose of appropriately Yuletide mixes, starting with newcomer Luke Jansen, who turns in a seasonal pop take on "Candion" from Jazz Jackrabbit: Holiday Hare 1995, which itself incorporates "Carol of the Bells" rather a lot:
"Here is my Jazz Jackrabbit remix. This was commissioned by Emmanuel EXE.
"Candion" from the PC DOS game Jazz Jackrabbit Holiday Hare 1995. I kinda just made it how I thought it should go, LOL.
I originally tried a choir as the main instrument, but it kinda didn't stand out enough, plus I had trouble with it sounding muddy. I worked hard on it. :-D"
It's getting late, so I'll let Gario do the heavy lifting:
"Oh man, this track really is something else. While the texture takes some *ahem* obvious inspiration from Carol of the Bells in the source, it does transform it into something completely different with the themes and harmonies. This arrangement, likewise, takes the source straight at first (with embellishments & improved sounds), but then develops those themes significantly in the second half, taking the arrangement to new heights.
It's an excellent piece of Christmas arranging without quite being a Christmas tune - it reminds me of something Mannheim Steamroller would do with a Christmas song (and I mean that as endearingly as possible). Great work!"
The Steamroller comparison is particularly on point, and if you're familiar with & dig their work, that'll set your expectations pretty accurately. Rexy adds:
"All in all, I see both the arrangement and production over the bar. Roll on December - it'll be appropriate to see this on the front page during the holidays. Good stuff!"
MIndWanderer chimes in (bells in?) as well:
"It's a great remix of a great remix of a great tune. This one will be going into my personal collection for sure."
Ditto all that; strong arranging & clear, straightforward-but-solid production from Luke - welcome aboard, and thanks for making our season brighter!

Hearing Carol of the Bells in the beginning definitely threw me a bit. This was simple and constructed quite well. Great remix!

I've still got the original xmplay-able JJR OSTs somewhere on an
old PC. Dark Groove fr the second in the series is one of my
favorite tracks, eminently listenable. This is an insta-classic,
very seasonable and enjoyable. Brings back fond nostalgia of
playing the game on my old 486...

In recent years, I've become tired of a large portion of all Christmas songs. I had to make an album of Christmas-type music I actually like.
This?
This will definitely be part of that album. And it's Jazz Jackrabbit, no less! Memories and Christmas miracles and etc. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Really fun and groovy track! The drums are especially good. Definitely worth the download and putting on repeat
P.S. The album tag is incorrect here. It's "https://ocremix.org" instead of "http://ocremix.org"

Great Jazz Jackrabbit remix! It makes me think of Eyewitness a bit.
