"Village on a Windy Mountain - Conde Petie"

RebeccaETripp collabs with Gamer of the Winds for a lovely, intimate folk/acoustic take on "Conde Petie" from FF9:
"This arrangement was created for a Pixel Mixers Final Fantasy 9 album, Beyond the Mist. I highly recommend that you check out the rest of it by following this link.
"Conde Petie" is in my top 5 songs from what arguably was one of the greatest soundtracks ever written. FF9 (originally composed by Nobuo Uematsu) has over 80 tracks, and they range from "good" to" tear-jerking masterpiece"! I've been meaning to create a cover of this song for many years now, but I'm sort of glad I waited. I really wanted to do it justice! I named this remix "Blessings of the Moon" (kind of a nod to the spirituality/religion of the dwarves). I was kind of imagining what Conde Petie might be like at night, which is why I added owls, "oglops," crickets, etc. In my heart... I just know that oglops must chirp at night. <3
The flute parts were performed by my friend, Gamer of the Winds! You should check out his channel."
Rexy evaluated and provides a ton of analysis:
"Rebecca's take on "Conde Petie" has a focus on pushing the organic strengths behind the source material and amplifying it tenfold - and with its heavy woodwind focus, it made plenty of sense to bring Gregory on board to provide those recorded parts. This more unusual production from her has less of a focus on her VST work and more on recorded parts, something that Gregory has continued to demonstrate with the qualities behind his setup and performance.
The arrangement also sounds sweet, thanks to two separate and distinct variations. The first one starts with rich added harmonies compensating for the dropped bass drum, then at 2:45 brought in both that bass drum and some countermelodies in preparation for said second riff's focus at 3:16. A lot of the writing outside of the variations' goals has a focus on adding more textures into the background, complimenting the woodwinds, and further cementing this peaceful vision of a dwarven village at night. Her calming style works so well with a setup more focused on live performance, therefore creating a unique package that has its perfect place both on the front page and in the chillout playlist."
NIce low-key track with a lot of negative space for reflection, contextualzing the winds, drums, harp, and what sounds like a vibraphone w/ heavy tremolo in an outdoor, nocturnal setting, surrounded by nature. Beautiful!

Nothing like the calm serenity of night with the sound of frogs croaking in the distance to put you at ease. This was a nice and chill peace and it was well played/made. Good job on this! :)
