Arranging the music of one song...
"Temple of Time"
Primary Game: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Nintendo , 2006, WII), music by Asuka Hayazaki, Koji Kondo, Toru MinegishiPosted 2020-05-27, evaluated by the judges panel
RebeccaETripp collaborates & co-arranges with newcomer Nirias on this playful, almost suspenseful classical/new age take on the "Temple of Time" theme from Twilight Princess; Nirias writes:
"It's an original remix of the Temple of Time theme from Zelda: Twilight Princess's soundtrack. Hope you enjoy it!"
Rebecca adds:
"This was a collaborative project with Nirias. We co-composed the arrangement together. It's a remix of the "Temple of Time" dungeon music in Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess."
A little less context/backstory than we're used to receiving from Rebecca, but the judges had plenty to say. Since he had some spare time due to the whole pandemic, I'd like to welcome back Emunator to the judges panel - we missed you! He writes:
"...things fell into place as more layers started to emerge. Your wind and harp writing provides a lovely expansion on some of the original Temple of Time melodies and are sequenced fairly well. The little glitch at 1:08 was really cool, I wish there were more flourishes like this."
This is definitely a slower burn in terms of points of interest; with the initial simplicity eventually blossoming into a more compelling blend of hand drums, harp, flute, choral sustains, and a moving, syncopated bass. It's hypnotizing stuff, and thus doesn't emphasize narrative contrast or development in the way other arrangements might, but it strikes the right tone & mood for its goals. The source is relatively simple, so the extrapolation & embellishment into an extended track are impressive - Liontamer summarizes:
"Quick props on this one. Nice approach going expansive with new part-writing to build upon such a minimal source. Cool approach!"
I think he likes the approach ;) It'd be great to hear more background from Nirias & Rebecca as to the inspiration, and who did what, but this certainly echoes the serene, lush format of several of Rebecca's mixes, and I think many folks will dig it - a hearty welcome to Nirias, and congrats to both artists on a cool piece. Enjoy!

Even though there was a bit of a dark undertone, this remix was remarkably peaceful. Great use of instruments, I had to turn it up a bit to catch some of the nuances. Great stuff!
