Off Tangledeep ~Arrange~ comes this mysterious, infectious EDM track with an explicit Indian influence, from Chimpazilla (Kristina Scheps):

"It's about time I submitted these Tangledeep remixes. I was thrilled to be asked to contribute to zircon's Tangledeep remix project. This remix is based on the Desert theme. The first time I heard this theme, I knew I had to remix it in Bollywood style, so that's what I did. I had fun mixing all the different vocals I found into the arrangement."

The sampled intro vocalizing sets the stage: yes, this is a ReMix of a desert theme and yes, there are certain tropes associated with desert stage BGM, but Kris actually leans *in* to the expected style/aesthetic even more than the source, and I think it works *quite* well. It's a creative arrangement with a ton of development for under four minutes, but the production is what really hit me. Kris has improved her game over the years, and her more recent mixes show a ton of polish - drums hit hard, everything's crisp/clean, and there's a lot of detail, particularly on the layered drums; love all the rolls! Rexy writes:

"Both Kris's tracks on Tangledeep Arranged can't sound any more different from each other - and this lively Indian-pop inspired interpretation on "The Great Sand Villa" serves as a booty-moving contrast to "Secret Garden" from earlier on in the album.

Source use left very few seconds blank, so there's no issue on dominance from the get-go. Accompaniment-wise, the track goes in-between genre-base textural experimentation thanks to the genre direction, plus the more curious choice of going back and forth between Persian and Minor scales during the A section run-throughs (0:21-1:00. 2:47-end). I also find it interesting that notation-wise, the C and D sections (1:29-2:27) got partially simplified to fit this modern aesthetic better. Along with clean production values and a palette fusing electronic and ethnic instrumentation right down to the vocal samples (!), it's clear that anything else I'd bring up would sound like a broken record at that point. It's a well-executed take on a worldly source with further worldly flavor - highly recommended!"

You can't ask for much more: clear vision, well-executed, not too long & uses its time wisely, plenty of sparkly things to appreciate as you go, and there's even a synth solo circa 1'10". Plus, as Bev very scientifically observed: it moves booty. COVID has meant a lot more family time for us, and one of the silver linings has been playing through the Shantae games with my daughters, in reverse order starting with Seven Sirens. We're on Risky's Revenge at the moment, but it's been a blast hearing each wonderful OST, and this track feels like it would fit right in - superb work from Chimpazilla, highly recommended!

This gave me Incredibox V7 vibes. The fact that this had no reviews is ridiculous, because this remix is very very good. I found myself moving and grooving to this pretty quickly. That low pulsing bass is SO good. 10/10!
