"My liege, and madam, to expostulate
What majesty should be, what duty is,
What day is day, night night, and time is time,
Were nothing but to waste night, day, and time;
Therefore, since brevity is the soul of wit,
And tediousness the limbs and outward flourishes,
I will be brief."

I don't get to open with Shakespeare often, but Zas gives me the greenlight with his titular inversion on Hamlet, Act 2 Scene 2. As someone who has been known to "eschew superfluous obfuscation" in my own writing, I am familiar with the quote :) And the mix, too, is brief, clocking in under the magical three minute runtime that earns it the "duration-short" tag, as Zas hits us with another selection from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time: Seven Years:

"Link sure has a lot of surrogate fathers, doesn't he?"

Yes. In this case: an owl. This woodwind-forward, orchestral take on "Kepora Gebora's Theme," offers a pleasant respite and ends with an interesting, sustained ambiance. OceansAndrew writes:

"Nice attention to detail here, the sound is really warm, and the key clicks make it feel very intimate. The arrangement starts out simply enough with the melody handed back between low reed instruments, and it plays it pretty close to the original, but it doesn't take long to start to branch out into new arrangement territory, and I felt that the ideas presented were a pretty natural fit. The counterpoint and modulation ideas were excellent, and the expansive sections never strayed too far from the source."

Emunator adds:

"I'm catching Winnie the Pooh vibes from some of the instrumentation here :) Very relaxing and nostalgic. I feel like your orchestrations are so different from what I'm used to hearing, every sample has a very raw sound with a lot of personality to it. This is pretty much in the same boat as your Kakariko sub; fairly conservative, a little sloppy, but full of life and personality that far outweighs any of the issues that may exist. Love the second half when you start getting a little more expansive."

In this context, at least, I don't consider "sloppy" a pejorative; the soul of wit may be brevity, but the soul of Zas's mixes is in their organic, rustic aesthetic. That's a bit more evident in our previous featured mix from this album/collection, but still quite evident here; great, "witty" stuff from Zas that illustrates more of the wonderful vibe/concept he created for the album - enjoy!

I love that I can hear the raw clicks on the woodwinds!

You definitely win points for originality for covering something that's hardly been covered before. This would fit right into an OOT remake if we ever get lucky enough to have one.
