TIme to take a break from all things Metroid for a moment, although I'm sure we'll be featuring more from Harmony of a Hunter Returns in the weeks & months to follow. For today, some extremely Zen, meditative vibes from this minimalist, Japanesque classical/new age Twilight Princess tone poem from Rebecca E. Tripp, featuring her own, very ethereal vocals:

"This is my arrangement of the "Hyrule Field Night" theme from Legend of Zelda, Twilight Princess. It's actually one of my favourite tracks from the entire series! I'm really passionate about this particular soundtrack! ^_^ The original composers for TP were Toru Minegishi, Asuka Ohta, and Koji Kondo.

Ableton Live is my DAW, but I make the MIDI first in NoteWorthy Composer. :) I was pretty pleased with the harp parts. ^^ I performed the vocals on this piece. I really wanted the vocals to sound reassuring, rather than creepy. ^^ I really wanted to imbue a tender, yearning quality.

This piece was nominated and voted for by my patrons. If you'd like to have some influence over what music I create each month, you can subscribe to me on Subscribestar: https://subscribestar.com/rebeccaetripp."

Once again, a heartfelt thanks to Rebecca's patrons - if you've got a source you think she'd do wonders with, consider joining their ranks & making your voice heard. This mix is very environmental; the crickets, combined with sporadic percussion and layered ostinati, plus mixed winds and an especially lovely harp part all make for a mesmerizing, enveloping space. Liontamer evaluated:

"The source tune, "Hyrule Field (Night)," is a great example of minimalist VGM, so I appreciated Rebecca's effort to put so much more substance and expansion in her presentation. (The sparseness of source melody to work with was padded a bit by referencing parts of "Midna's Lament" not found in "Hyrule Field (Night)".) Her vocals were also nice and airy, and I'm already looking forward to hearing her invoke them more in future works. The cricket SFX bookending the track was a nice, understated touch as well. Very loopable, very relaxing, very endearing! :-)"

Ditto all that; when I first heard the solo vocalizing, I thought "damn... that's some really good Kontakt legato scripting!" - good enough, over time, to be detectable as a live performance, and extremely well done & appropriate for the piece. LIke Larry, I'd love to hear more. While the source is even more minimalist, I think this retains that simplicity and (to me at least) uniquely Japanese pensivity & reflection; very specific timing & use of negative space. Another inviting, transporting, & wonderfully-realized arrangement from Ms. Tripp!

This remix definitely does a good job of setting a tone and creating a rich atmosphere. I had to do a double take more than once because I thought I heard something nearby when it was just from the remix. This is a great remix that keeps you interested and has plenty of cool moments throughout!

I accidentally managed to put this track on repeat before playing another game. Took me three run-throughs to figure out that it wasn't a twelve minute track. I listened to it another three more times through before finally deciding to alt tab and end it. Yes I downloaded it as soon as I could.
Seriously Ms. Tripp why do you do this to me? :)
