Gotta sneak in some more Jet Force Gemini: Mizar Attacks!, because this glitch-hop jam from Deedubs (Mike DeWeese) slaps, bops, is dope, is a banger, is fire, and many other superlatives I'm too old to authentically wield:
"Quite the impeccable timing Darkflamewolf has! I began this remix a couple of days prior to them contacting me to inform me that they were beginning a new album project remixing music from Jet Force Gemini. Ooh, man was I excited! It was a soundtrack that I was very fond of and listened to it many times throughout my childhood. The music of Ichor Military Base was one of the tracks that stood out to me in particular. Since I had already started remixing that one, I claimed it right away once the album project began.
Glitch hop was the style I was aiming for this time. I had been listening to quite a bit of glitch hop and funk before starting the remix, wanting to explore those again after my last go 4 years prior. The name "Big Bug Funk" comes from one of the areas you can visit in Ichor called the Big Bug Fun Club. The brief, but catchy, disco music that plays there also makes an appearance in this remix."
Given that JFG is on the lesser-mixed/more-obscure end of the VGM spectrum, that's some serious serendipity that Mike had just started a mix when DFW came callin' - the stars aligned perfectly. I don't fanboy much, but when I do, it's for tracks like this: my own mix didn't pan out, but I stand in awe of Mike's ability to take the source in this direction - this is basically what I would have *liked* to have contribued to the project, if I had seen a way. Glad he did - funky swagger permeates the whole mix, there are some sick FX & production tricks, and the overall experience is energized & stylish; Liontamer evaluated:
"Listen, I've said many a time that I love hearing creative arrangementx tackling the most prolific game soundtracks, but when you hear things like THIS -- where an artist creatively and funkily (technical term) arranges low-key original VGM gold -- it'll always speak to me that much more. I realize not every listener's interested in doing side-by-side comparison's of OC ReMixes to the original tracks, but I certainly am, and, boy, do you get an even greater appreciation for the talents of both the original composers and the arrangers. Mike, I'm a bald-headed man who doesn't wear hats, but I tip my metaphorical hat to you. This referenced so many substantial portions of the original track, and I have no idea where the creative spark comes from to turn this militaristic orchestral track into a funkbeast, but this is great and deserves so much respect. Even if I'm the only person that says it, I want you to know "I see what you did there." ;-) It bears repeating: Anyone who overlooks the Jet Force Gemini soundtrack or the Mizar Attacks! album, you messed up."
Super-creative, super-transformative, & (as per usual w/ Deedubs) superbly-executed; Mike's got the Midas touch with his album contributions, and this one's no exception - outstanding!

Another remix that deserves way more comments! 1:30 - 2:00 was absolute ear candy, that slapping bass mixed with the hard bass and crisp drums was soo good! Overall very cool and funky. Two thumbs up! ?
