There's a brief-but-cool vocal interlude in this short classical Skyward Sword tribute from Rebecca E. Tripp:
"This is the finale of my "Skyward Sword Epic Orchestral Medley." There are many parts to it, but this excerpt just worked so well on its own that I figured I'd make it a standalone track. It combines the "Isle of Songs" and "Island in the Sky" themes. I was actually picturing greenery when I made this! I also added in a little bit of "Ballad of the Goddess." I call the track "Songs of Skies." The original SS OST was composed by Mahito Yokota, Hajime Wakai, Takeshi Hama, and Koji Kondo. It's definitely my favourite Nintendo OST! ^_^"
Feels verdant, almost pastorale - not necessarily "epic" in the traditional sense, and not a finale in the "bombastic conclusion" sense, either, but instead a serene vignette of peaceful, lush themes; organic, positive, alive. MindWanderer writes:
"Simple, effective. The themes are interwoven so well it seems like they were once piece to begin with. Despite being pretty minimal, and the instruments being pretty exposed, they don't sound overly fake. And it's mastered much better than most of your arrangements. Good stuff."
The judges have been encouraging Rebecca to up the volume levels a smidge, and this track is (I think) closer to what they're expecting/hoping as more of a baseline. DarkSim adds:
"Those vocals caught me off guard! They could definitely be manipulated better, and that intake of breath at 1:38 is an odd way to introduce them. Although the execution wasn't great, it does add an extra point of interest to the piece, and puts me in mind of a track like Alone in Kyoto by Air. I'm pretty sure the processing on them is intentional, and I think expanding on that vocal idea and mixing them better could have been something extra special here. Perhaps something to experiment with in future."
Yes, I hope so; Rebecca is of course going to follow her own path, but mixing in some synthetic textures, expanding more on vocal concepts, and even lending more of a verse/chorus "song" form to her arrangements would all be very interesting avenues to pursue. That being said, she's excellent at what she's been doing, and in just over two & a half minutes, the impressive variety and blended themes in this mix serve as yet another good example of that prowess. Pleasant, and with a couple little surprises packed in - enjoy!

Never heard the original, but this was very well done. The instrumentation was on point and there was enough little additions and fun bits thrown in where it remained interesting! ?
