ITT, the judges gush about J Damashii. :-)
J did it AGAIN, another must-play RuneScape medley with big lobster energy from his Fishing Levels album! Judge Chimpazilla was hyped to create our visualizer video for this mix, and she was on board for the musical concept as soon as she heard this:
"What an awesome arrangement! The themes blend together very seamlessly. I'd expect nothing less from J and I'm glad to hear this one. I love deserty arrangements, instruments and sounds. [...] I love the vocal clips! This is a super fun remix."
Emunator's got his own RuneScape arrangement cooked up for OCR with fellow judge Flexstyle, which'll make J Damashii a happy man after the chastizing we got from him last time around! Besides praising J's instrumental prowess, Emu also recognized how engaging the track stays, even with a long runtime and pretty intense energy most of the time:
"Your arrangement is absolutely bonkers and manages to sustain a crazy amount of energy for over 6 minutes without ever dragging on or treading the same ground. What an incredible pallet of instrumental variety, all of your instruments and synths are wielded with a great level of technical precision."
"Precision" is on point, and I'll never truly understand how J manages to come up with his amazing textures. As I said with his last ReMix, whenever I hear a J Damashii song, I absolutely recognize signature aspects of his style, but at the same time, he never retreads anything. J manifests his musical creativity in so many unique ways but it's tethered to a stylishness that always comes through. :-) DarkSim dug this too on several levels, the rhythms, the instruments, and the seamlessness of the medley:
"Love the swaggering groove this carries with it. As if it wasn't big enough though, I really liked how you stretched it out between 1:22 and 1:43, experimenting with the timings of the groove a bit more.
Instrumentation is cool, incorporating lots of middle-eastern sounds with the trappy snares, and the addition of trumpets works well with the palette. [...]
Arrangement is solid, weaving between the 4 source tunes without feeling like a medley at all. The source melodies are presented very identifiably, particularly Al Kharid. Using Agents of Keli in the break works well, but then bringing the beat back in at 5 minutes and going full trap on it sounds great."
Crazy arrangement, with, as DarkSim said, the main focus being on "Al Kharid" but all four themes getting significant play. It generally progresses without even feeling like a medley, more shifting over into different ideas, so the flow is strong with this one. J actually kept it very brief with his comments on this one: "Thanks for listening, hope y'all enjoy." You've got your marching orders, people! Thank you for listening, and we hope you all enjoy! [sic] ;-)

This is one of those remixes that makes me sit up straight and pay attention. There is so much style and creativity with this. Easy download for me.

This is my favourite song from FISHING LEVELS, so I'm really happy to see it appear on the OCR front page. J does not miss!
