Bio

Diddy Kong was originally created by Rare for the hit SNES game Donkey Kong Country, where he took the role of Donkey Kong's friend and sidekick. After losing their banana horde to the vile Kremlings headed up by King K. Rool, both Diddy and Donkey go on an adventure across DK Island to reclaim their treasure.

Diddy's role in his games is analogous to Luigi's role in the Mario series. Like Luigi compared to Mario, Diddy is less powerful than the main protagonist Donkey, but he is faster and more flexible in terms of movement.

Since the original Donkey Kong Country trilogy Diddy has gone on to star in many other games in either a cameo or as one of the main characters. The most iconic of these games is Rare's Diddy Kong Racing for the Nintendo 64 in 1997. In this game Diddy had a whole new world created around him, which featured the debut of other important characters such as Banjo and Conker. Diddy also played a main role alongside Donkey Kong and company in Donkey Kong 64 in 1999, the spiritual sequel to the Country series.

After Microsoft's takeover of Rare in 2002, Diddy Kong has been used in games by Nintendo and its companies, such as Mario's sport games on the GameCube, Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour and Mario Power Tennis. Namco has used him in their Donkey Konga series. The Country games have also been resurrected by Nintendo and Rare on the Game Boy Advance.
