I really enjoyed timaeus222's track. Lots of energy. Makes me want to check out the original (can't do much better than that when remixing game music).

Also, this is a neat concept for an album. Makes me wonder what a Gunpei Yokoi EP would've been like.

It's also for us to want to go back and play the games the music came from and appreciate Mr. Iwata's contributions.

@Brandon Strader I've got more than a few items from OCRemix's back catalog in my Nintendo music playlist, appropriately titled... "Iwata Jams".

I was initially disappointed in the somewhat lower than expected amount of comments and reviews for this album. But after a while I starting to think about it.

Maybe doing an album like this isn't about accolades and praise. Maybe it isn't something we did, so we could pat ourselves on the backs and say "we did it". Maybe it isn't for others to compliment and rate. It isn't a lot of things. But I do know what it is for.

It's for a man that isn't here to listen to it. It's for his fans to reminisce his work. It's for his legacy.

And maybe... maybe that's all it needs to be.

Wonderful job, you guys! I think this is, truly, a fitting tribute to Mr. Iwata.

It's sad that most reviews come from people involved. I don't want to join said dogpile. I will say OCR produces a lot of very charming albums and in this instance a very deserving theme, very humbled to have been involved. More people should check it out, and share their thoughts on the album and the man himself.

Welcome to the community Sailorneorune! I am glad you liked the EP and I hope you find a lot to enjoy here at OCR in the future. There's a lot of good old stuff too.

I admit I'd been lurking here for a while, but I finally joined after Heart of a Gamer's release. I listened to the album, and I have two words for you all: HOLY. CRAP. I am hooked like the Balloon Fight Fish. I especially appreciate that one of Iwata-san's lesser-known games (HECK YEAH ROLLERBALL) got some love too.

Speaking as a mere fan, but speaking from the heart (required in an Iwata thread) - fantastic job, everyone. This will be a permanent addition to my Nintendo music playlist.

Delighted to be a part of this, such an eclectic mix of sounds making a lovely tribute. Would have liked more time to work on the art, but that's always what I say. For such a quick turnaround the mini album has turned out really well. congrats to all the musicians involved, along with the project managers. It's awesome. I'm sure Big S would've loved this.

EDIT: Thanks also for putting faith in me as an artist.

Nice job to everyone involved. It is great to see how such a tribute can exist after so little time. Thanks to The Damned, to OCR, and to Mr. Iwata.

I feel like this was a little rushed because of the short time we had to do it, but I really am glad this mini-album turned out so well.

I again want to thank the remixers, Sbeast, k-wix, Brandon, timaeus222, PokerusVGM and Chernabogue, Tuberz McGee and Kroasta for their work (and their ability to put up with my random pushes to get this album done.

Another thanks goes to Odai, our album artist and the man that came up with the title.

Themysteriousassassin gets a thank you as well, for backing me up and pushing the project a few times when I wasn't there to do it myself.

And finally to Liontamer for not only giving the go ahead for such a quick project, but also his support getting it out in time.

I hope everyone enjoys this album. Satoru Iwata had a big impact on the industry, and even though this is just a small sample of the games he was involved in, I really do feel it shows how much we loved his work.

OH MY GOD! We're up on VGMDB!

"On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer."

Whether in front of a computer monitor or a boardroom of investors, Iwata's love of games were what came first. His "Ask Iwata" series combed through the histories of Nintendo games, old and new. His humor in the Nintendo Direct videos showed a side we hardly see from company presidents. His devotion to his company was never truer when, in financial trouble, he took a pay cut to make sure his employees were safe. When his colleagues were in need, he lent his time and skill to save their games.

Why would he do all these things?

"In my heart, I am a gamer."
