Family man Andrew Luers writes:

"The last track available on the DKC2 project, it's really cheerful and peppy, so it was time to do a party song. Acoustic and electric guitars, lot of synths and keyboards, and some layered percussion. In addition to DKC2, it uses the melody from cranky's theme from DKC as well. I wanted it to sound like a pop song you'd hear on the radio, so it has a fadeout guitar solo, and is 3 minutes long.

Disa did the intro vocals because she heard me trying to record monkey noises, and thought it sounded terrible. I threatened to leave them in unless she did a cutesy vocal intro, and she caved! VICTORY!"

It's fun, sugary, wholesome, upbeat goodness... the musical equivalent of caffeinated sugar. Shariq writes:

"Lacks a little in the mid-range, but overall a pretty solid arrangement. The way it starts reminds me of a song from some PBS kids show from the mid-90s; take that however you will.Nice guitar work halfway through, and the synth that follows it is just great. Oh hey, there's a key change. Nice. I like it."

Jimmy adds:

"All in all, this song is a really good example of a jamout to the progression of the source, but weaves seamlessly in and out of referencing the melody and free-styling over top the chords so that the reference remains wholly intact. And it also does a great job of taking a very short melodic riff and expanding it most effectively for a really enjoyable 3 minute track."

I think between the three of them, they pretty much said it all; major-key, happy, does a great job of expanding the source into something larger, and packs at least 70% of your daily recommended intake of buoyant euphoria into a single, bite-size mix.

PARTY'S OVER HERE!

This makes me laugh far more than it should. But it's awesome, and the song fades away just as the solo gets good. It's like a tease...

And Rexy, the final five are all of OA's. TAKE THAT! BWAHAHA!

Entering the last review for the first form of OA's diabolical usurping of OCR... on ONE OF HIS OWN WORKS.

This to me has a cute sounding approach; blending elements of pop rock with more electric elements to fit a more laid back and contemporary handling of the source material. Even after the 1 minute mark, there's been enough to give to the writing and way of handling the accompaniment, and with the half-speed section after it, mind-blowing solos (especially that synth one!!) and the brief key change, you can't help but feel something rather joyous with it overall. It might be something to expect on DK's radio when he becomes old and gray.

In spite of this, I felt the tail ends were a little weak - not sure if going for a fadeout for a song of this length was the best idea, and even then I laughed at the intro; it's cute, definitely, but I'm not sure if everyone would probably get the gag. (Don't worry, I did... hehe. )

Very fun track all around, OA! And even though you may be busy being a Head Judge now, I'm sure you'll still have musical class for 2012 :D

This is a fun song for a fun source, although a bit harder than you might expect from Cranky with that electric guitar and whatnot. Overall, it's a pretty simple song while there's a few mixing issues at times, it's generally solid.

Cute, fun, bouncy, a great party song! I put this song in my wedding playlist, so everyone at my wedding got to boogie down to OA and DKC2. This song is a lot of fun.

 Soooo coool. I was going to say something about playing this at my wedding if it ever happens. Turns out you completely beat me to the punch. :D

Hey! OA sure does know how to party ;-) This track exudes cheesiness out the ass but at the end of the day I honestly love it. Great melodies, particularly in the guitar solo towards the end... and I don't care how biased this site can be against fadeouts, I think it worked well here. I wasn't sure what could really be done with Cranky's Conga for the project so I'm glad you took it in a unique direction here.

C'mon!

Ah, this was a very enjoyable party song. Cute vocal intro, nice guitar and plenty of happy energy. Good to have songs like this in the blasted winter time.

the best part about this song is the lyrics tab. :-)

QFT

Nice work on getting those vocals, too. :nicework:

But anyway, I dig the peppy popness of the song. I just don't feel that the electric guitars really help to reach that goal though.

They just feel too rough making them feel at odds with the bubbliness that is this song. Besides that, it's just sweet, sweet bubblegum pop.

It's definitely fun and worth checking out.
