It's been 3+ years since our last Streets of Rage mix. Crazy, eh? Here to take it (back) to the streets is Amphibious, with an aggressive EDM arrangement that got started, as so many great things do, in a MAGFest hotel room:

"At MAGFest I was in a room with some cool peoples, Nathan Becker (ectogemia) being one of them. One day we decided to start a random song in FL on my laptop. It was pretty fun, and I learned a bunch of cool tips for mixing and sound design from him. This mix used that project file as a basis, so he certainly gets an honorable mention. I've learned a lot of things from a lot of different people on OCR in compos and just general conversation as well, so I have a lot of people to really thank.

I was originally just trying to make a pumping dance track, but as I started fiddling about I played the Fighting in the Streets lead overtop of what I started and I thought to myself "Oh damn." So I reworked it, expanded the arrangement and eventually ended up with this. It felt like a very convincing and logical style for a Streets of Rage remix. I layered a lot of percussion samples, worked with way more automation than I'm used to, layered tons of other sounds. I did a lot of new things with this and it was a pretty big undertaking, but in the end I think it turned out to be one of my best works yet. I've tried to do harder electronic music before but nothing has turned out quite like this one has. I hope you all enjoy it!"

Nutritious certainly did:

"Great arrangement for sure. Source is all over the place, but always used in a creative way. Nice touch with stuff like the swirl-type effect at 1:37. There is a ton of attention to detail like this throughout the track with keep it fresh and interesting. Ending was a bit sudden, but otherwise it sounds really polished. Excellent work."

As did Larry:

"In any case, the overall product was sweet and the arrangement had great style and interpretation. Streets of Rage was an amazing soundtrack, and I really REALLY hope this isn't the last time Jordan tackles this score, because this was very enjoyable and really lent a completely different, amped up energy. Cool stuff."

As did I; as Larry mentions, this really galvanizes the already kickin' source tune, and I love the sheer amount of motion going on at any given point, the explosive effects, & all the little programming details. Jordan upped his production game for this one, and it shows, and it's the type of ReMix that's fun to listen to the first time but also rewards repeat listens to track & catch all the little bits. Always great to see more SoR/Yuzo, and equally groovy to see more from Amphibious, who clearly has picked up a few tricks here & there and put them to excellent use on this arrangement!

Pretty. Freaking. Awesome. Non stop frisson from start to finish.

Had to check out the Mega Man remix, awesome job on that one as well. More, please!

Awesome track, super-clean, energetic, and that bass synth really snarls. Love it.

Oh yeeeah! This is just crazy. That awesome energetic groove just blows me away. And when I at first heard the moment at 1:36, it gave me creeps. Great job!

This is fantastic. Never gets boring, the energy is just awesome and this is the kind of rave music I'd love to just stick on repeat for a long time. Great use of quick drops at points. Everything ties together. Very good ReMix.

I was already impressed the moment I pressed play. Such a clean housey remix. You really captured the mood with this. Great job!

Those micro breaks in between are awesome, really adds mood to the track. The hi-hats do sound a little bit tin-canny, but that's only at the start so it isn't a real dealbreaker. Great mix!

I feel like Koshiro does not get NEARLY enough love on here, between Streets of Rage, Etrian Odyssey, and ActRaiser (to name a few), there's a large amount of great material that no one has even touched :dstrbd:

Needless to say I was really happy to see this show up, and even happier once I started listening. I can always tell a track or performance is really good when I just start smiling uncontrollably during it :)!!

Wow, this ReMix is super way easy on the ears-- never a dull moment. It sounds vibrant and totally in control of itself at every turn (of which there are many). I like it, I like it!

Nice production here. The resonant noise sweep that you used a few times suffered a little from YouTube's compression, but it's all good in the MP3 (maybe a little too bright/resonant compared to all the other sounds). Sorta straightforward of an interpretation, but good use of the stereo field to maximize the immersion during the less four-on-the-floor portions of the arrangement. I especially liked the ring-mod frequency automation at 3:04. Also, just a little note, but the kick sample you used seems like it can also work in dubstep. ;)

Excellently entertaining. Had this on loop for a while, definitely one of those songs one can easily get lost in.
